Blagojevich: Bla Bla Black Sheep, Have You Any —- (Issue 153)

There has been so much in the news lately about embattled Illinois Governor, Rod Blagojevich.  We first heard of his alleged scandalous behavior when US Attorney Fitzgerald televised a report about the Governor. Then Impeachment hearings began; however to this date he has not been tried and convicted of anything. Despite the fact many other politicians have been urging him to resign.

A number of years back there was a joke quote, I can’t recall who said, “George Washington said, ‘I never told a lie,’ Richard Nixon said, ‘I never told the truth,’ and Jimmy Carter said, ‘I don’t really know the difference.’”

Ron Paul: A Solution: Read Debates & Dear John Letter (Issue 152)

The Father of the Constitution, and fourth President, James Madison, said, “A popular government without popular information or the means of acquiring it, is but a prologue to a farce or a tragedy, or perhaps both. Knowledge will forever govern ignorance: And a people who mean to be their own Governors, must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives.”

This quote from his inaugural address, on March 4, 1797 is such wonderful words of wisdom spoken over 200 years ago.

Congressman Sterns Wants to Suspend Congress to See Football Game (Issue 151)

On today’s news, Congressman Stearns, of Florida, appeared on television, asking Congress to suspend the meeting so he could attend a football game.

That’s the best news I have heard from a politician in Washington in a long time. Close your office and leave. And do not return. Get off our backs and stay.

Rick Warren Invocation, “United by Commitment to Freedom” (Issue 150)

Our founding father, George Washington, said, “All see and most admire, the glare which hovers round the trappings of elevated office. To me there is nothing in it, beyond the luster which may be reflected from its connection with a power of promoting human felicity.”

Like the majority of Americans, I watched most of the inauguration of the new President, Barack Obama, today.
