From time to time I have written bits and pieces about segments of my life. Today, I started to write more stories about The Great Depression of the 1930s but decided I should write about a time before the crash of 1929, from stories my mother told.
My mother was without a doubt the most interesting woman I have ever known. She was extremely intelligent, without very much formal schooling. And despite the hardships she endured growing up she always seem to have this regal presence about her.

This is a follow up on a previous article I wrote about tax supported schools in this country. I quoted a newspaper article last December which stated, “Education represents more than 55 percent of nearly 8.2 billion of Georgia’s fiscal year 2009 budget, according to the governor’s office of planning and budget.
I’m going to round it off to understand numbers easier, instead of 55 percent, let’s just say one-half or 50 percent, this would mean 4.1 billion for schooling in the state of Georgia. Some states may have a higher budget and some may have a lower budget. California may have a larger budget than Montana.

I have written almost 200 lengthy articles in the past year I’ve been writing this blog site. I have touched on a number of subjects, but mostly I’ve written about politics and The Philosophy of Freedom. If I understand anything, I understand the real meaning of Freedom.
But there’s an area, I failed to grasp the actual significance of, not in my understanding of the meaning of freedom, but in the real cause of the demise of it. You see, I thought everyone wanted freedom, and I was mistaken. My second error in judgment was viewing symptoms as a cause of the demise of individual freedom. And the third fallacy in my thinking was the majority of Americans would never accept Socialism.

Despite the fact I no longer have any children in school, I recall the time when I did have school age children, and the battles I fought in the system. One incident which comes to mind is the time my daughter came home from school and said she had an assignment to write a paper on, “How to be a good loser.” I was cooking dinner, and probably dropped the frying pan and told her I would help her with that project.
