The Dog Bites the Flea, The Flea Bites the Dog – They Stay Together: Politicians and Schools (Issue 179)

The newly elected President is trying to ram-rod as much legislation, about as many things as possible, as quickly as he can.

In less than two months, he has proposed, passed, pitched and promised so many billions in bailouts, one would think, what’s left, and what’s next?  Oops almost forgot, education.

Yesterday came the speech from the president about large amounts of money to be poured into so-called education. This is the all-time, old time standby pitch for all politicians. Their safety-net pitch, the underlying notion, we can always get away with talking more money for education. It’s across the board. Republicans and Democrats, hang together when it comes to voting for more and more money to be extracted from the citizens for tax supported schooling.

Keith Oberman = O’Reilly = Chris Matthews = Fredrich Bastiat. About 3 TV Personalities and 19th Century French Writer, Bastiat (Issue 178)

One of my very favorite  writers is Fredrich Bastiat, who wrote, “The Law” and another book titled, “That Which is Seen and Not Seen” looking through a broken window.

I sometimes listen to Keith Oberman, who has a nightly news program. I can describe him as being handsome, articulate, entertaining and the best dressed news man on television. He can get into name-calling and butt-kicking ranting like no one else on the air. Plus he is so far left; he’s off the charts in left-field.

The Tax Supported Socialist School System (Issue 177)

I’m a clipper of news articles and have a large box of news items about the tax-supported school system.

I’ll begin with an article from December 2008, which states, “education represents more than 55 percent or nearly $8.2 billion of Georgia’s fiscal year 2009 budget, according to the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget.”

That’s a whopping amount of money. It is a requirement for payment by everyone, even those who have no children in the system. I personally have no idea how much schooling another requires, needs nor wants, and definitely have no interest in paying for it.

Promoting the Idea of Freedom (Issue 176)

For a number of years I read the editorial page of The Colorado Springs Gazette when Robert LeFeve was editor. He wrote such great inspirational editorials about many subjects with an underlying theme of the philosophy of freedom. They were so helpful to me when I was trying to understand the real meaning of freedom.

He eventually left the newspaper as editor and started a school, called Rampart college.  As a part of the curriculum he implemented comprehensive courses, teaching the philosophy of freedom. Robert LeFeve was one of those rare individuals who actively promoted the idea of freedom and was one of my mentors.
