So many of the undesirable changes made in this country, have been a result of the way the language has been used, misused, twisted, changed and subverted. George Orwell, double-think, double-talk. We have difficulty communicating, because we differ in the intrepretation of words, which frequently carry different connotations to different persons.
For example, take the word “progressive,” an adjective with positive connotations, like making progress, moving forward. Conversely, it can be used to mean reform in Government, to totally change this country from a Republic with a Constitution, to a socialist, marxist, communist form of government, which is negative.
The past few weeks, the news has been dominated to some degree about the horrors of the earthquake in Haiti. Like so many other disasters, news report slants are changing somewhat from Rescue and Recovery to human interest stories, some great and heroic and some which leave a bad taste in one’s mouth.
Stories about trafficking of children, for prostitution and slave-labor are particularly disturbing. We can expect to hear more stories about the use of all the money poured into Haiti and the distribution of goods and services.

SUBJECT MATTER, COMMENTS, SPAM, VARIETY, SOUP TO NUTS (ISSUE 343)
When I began writing this blog, just over two years ago, I did not know what a Blog and an Octogenarian was. Felt like Christopher Columbus must have felt, when he started his journey not knowing where he was going, when he left Queen Isabella. Didn’t know where he was when he arrived, and didn’t know where he had been when he returned. Thought he had discovered India. But fortunately Queen Isabella was still there waiting for him.
Could he have possibly imagined what his discovery of America meant? Ultimately a country of over 300 million, with opportunities and realization of dreams of Freedom, unimaginable except in the greatest nation in the Universe.
