Confucius says, “If your plans are for one year, plant rice, if your plans are for ten years, plant trees, and if your plans are for one hundred years educate men.” Confucius was a very wise oriental man.
But not as wise as the Founding Fathers of this country, who wrote the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution. Their plans were obviously for one-hundred and beyond, as they carved out these two documents, with Divine Guidance.

Growing up on a farm in northeast Georgia during the Great Depression, we did very little traveling for any distance, mostly moving around among family on adjoining farms, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins. Then I received a copy of an article titled, “Tea Party unveils Contract from America Planks.” A proposal which had 80.7 approval in a survey. The article went on to say, the ultimate objective of the tea party movement is to influence the outcome of the mid-term elections the way the Contract with America did in 1994. Which suggests the solution to the problem is, we can vote our way out of the mess we voted ourselves into.

Was it Voltaire, who grabbed the baby out of the mother’s arms and said, “Tell me everything you know?”
I’ve been trying to figure out why there is so little interest in understanding Freedom, and knowing about the history of this Nation. Why there is so little objection to the tax-supported school system. Why young children have no idea where a tomato comes from. Why they know who lives in a pineapple house in the ocean, but do not know who lives in the White House. Why a ten year old, knows how to kick a soccer or football, but has no idea how to plant and grow a seed. Why my 20-year old nephew in college called home to find out how to put a quarter in a washing machine.
