THE ROUTE I TOOK TO LEARN THE PHILOSOPHY – LEAVING RENO FOR TENNESSEE AND BATTLE WITH SCHOOL (Issue 437)

PART THREE

Arriving at Smyrna AFB near Nashville was a thrill for me. We had lived in Tennessee before the tour to Japan and I loved living there. An absolutely beautiful state, and I especially love all the country-western music, Nashville being the capital of country music.

We had rented a small furnished house to live in temporarily. I wanted to build a new house, and left the furniture in storage until we could build. I enrolled the children in school, joined the local bridge club in Murfreesboro, and I always belonged to officers wives clubs, and participated in their luncheons and activities. Not much of a joiner, but officers’ wives clubs and bridge clubs I usually joined.

THE ROUTE I TOOK TO LEARN PHILOSOPHY OF FREEDOM – MY RETURN TO AMERICAN SOIL AFTER BEING AWAY FOUR YEARS (Issue 436)

PART TWO

After landing in San Francisco, I was sooo happy for a number of things. Happy to be back on American soil, feeling so safe and sound. Happy I and my family had survived so much in Japan – being robbed, earthquakes, severe car wreck, a flood, to mention a few things. Happy to talk to my Mom and Dad. And looking forward to a new assignment in Reno, Nevada.

After a few days sightseeing and shopping in San Francisco, we drove to Reno. Moved onto Stead AFB about 20 miles outside Reno. I loved the two years we spent there. Still, my husband had many tours of temporary duty.

THE ROUTE I TOOK TO LEARN THE PHILOSOPHY OF FREEDOM (Issue 435)

There comes a time when it seems apropos to get off the treadmill and re-think where we stand individually. As I look back, reminding myself, my first real moment of awakening came about living in Japan, in a prefecture near where the movie Sayonara was filmed.

I had only been in Japan a few weeks, arriving at Itami AFB where my husband had been for six months. He was a helicoptor pilot in Air-sea rescue. I was the last wife in his squadron to arrive.

REFLECTIONS ON POLITICS – NEWS – OPINIONS. PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE plus FREEDOM vs. COMMUNISM (Issue 434)

Growing up in the South among a lot of family members, grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, Mom & Dad, two brothers and one sister, we talked and argued ideas a lot. Thinking back we had many “sayings” which were frequently repeated. They were never referred to as quotations, but repetition of anything was a saying.

For example, a well-known word in our area is “yonder.” It might be used to describe a place 50 miles away or a particular item in another room, one might say it’s over yonder.
