Here we are on January 20th, on the eve of the South Carolina primary, and the day after the latest Republican debates last evening, with CNN moderator John King.
It began rather contentiously, when the moderator addressed the latest news item from Newt Gingrich’s ex-wife, accusing Newt of wanting an “open” marriage while still married to her. It’s really old-hat stuff and Newt got a standing ovation for his answer claiming the accusations false.

Here we are just two days away from the much-anticipated South Carolina primary. The candidates have performed 15 televised debates, and the last one on Monday reported by the media as being the best thus far. A lot of hoopla by talk show participants and news reporters, about the performance of candidates. Quite frankly, I saw little difference between the last debate and the other 14 previous. I thought it was a rather lackluster performance, with an absence of charismatic energy.

Much is dominating the news in the last few days about the cruise liner shipwreck off the coast of Italy. Death toll rising while ship Captain being questioned about his incompetency to handle the emergency when the ship hit rocks and began sinking. According to reports he abandoned ship, and his responsibilities as Captain.
This behavior is so deja vu in the history of other shipwrecks and their captains in times of tragedy. And probably everyone is familiar with the Titanic and the blockbuster movie about that sinking.

And even a great-grandmother who lived with us, who divorced a very rich grandfather in the twenties.
