Usually when I write an article, I sit down at the computor and just start writing about a subject which comes to mind. Then there are times when a particular subject has been bothering me for sometime and not always sure what it is that’s bothering me about it.
I really miss those wonderful teachers and mentors I had early on, when I began studying the Philosophy of Freedom, such as Dr. George Boardman, a newspaper columnist and professor at Rampart College who lived in the ghost town of Chloride, Arizona. Frequently I wrote to him about a particular subject, event, article, or opinion which was bothering me and asking him, what it was that bothered me. He would decipher, and always took time to respond.

I write on a variety of subjects, but usually refrain from writing about religion. Believing it is so personal and individual, I don’t usually discuss it. Not my religious beliefs, nor others’. This is an article about a church, The United Church of Christ.
A few days ago, listening to the Glenn Beck show, he started talking about Jeremiah Wright, the former pastor of President Obama, and his church he attended for twenty years. I thought I heard him say it was a United Church of Christ. That was news to me, I had never heard that.

Was it Voltaire, who grabbed the baby out of the mother’s arms and said, “Tell me everything you know?”
I’ve been trying to figure out why there is so little interest in understanding Freedom, and knowing about the history of this Nation. Why there is so little objection to the tax-supported school system. Why young children have no idea where a tomato comes from. Why they know who lives in a pineapple house in the ocean, but do not know who lives in the White House. Why a ten year old, knows how to kick a soccer or football, but has no idea how to plant and grow a seed. Why my 20-year old nephew in college called home to find out how to put a quarter in a washing machine.

Another spring is here, bringing on another gardening project by four-year old Prince William. His small garden plot is well on its way. Before May and blackberry winter, there’s always a cold spell when blackberries bloom. He is already growing snowpeas, tomatoes, spinach, squash and corn.
He goes to kindergarten and came in one day with a zip-lock bag of corn plants he had planted in the bag and grown in his school. Grinning from ear to ear surprising me with his school project. The plants were about four inches tall in the bag and we planted them in his garden plot. I emoted and bragged over his accomplishment.
