DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE – CONSENT OF THE GOVERNED – HUGE TAX HIKES IN 6 MONTHS (Issue 397)

DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE

On this 4th of July weekend, it’s time to re-read the Declaration of Independence, and reflect upon its words of wisdom, authored by Thomas Jefferson, stating, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, endowed by their Creator with certain un-alienable Rights, among these are life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. That to secure these Rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

He quoted the fifth amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which states, “nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation.” Then asked her opinion on property Rights.

SUPREME COURT NOMINEE ELENA KAGAN – CONGRESSIONAL HEARINGS. GENERAL PETRAEUS (Issue 395)

THE CONGRESS, THE COURTS, THE NOMINEE, AND THE FARCE OF THIS WEEK’S HEARINGS

This has been a week of vetting Elena Kagan for Supreme
Court Justice seat and four star General Petraeus to head up American forces in Afganistan. General Petraeus was approved by Senate, 99-0.

Congressional hearings are supposed to be all about selecting a justice to fill a position on the nine-person court, to make decisions on law according to the United States Constitution.

However, because decisions are made by human beings, subject to error, and mis-intrepretation of the essence and over-all meaning of this document of law, it’s of utmost importance for Congressional hearings, to probe and question candidates for the position of Supreme Court Justice.

MORALITY – PRINCIPLES – VALUE JUDGMENTS – OBJECTIVITY & SUBJECTIVITY (Issue 383)

Growing up on a farm in northeast Georgia during the Great Depression, we did very little traveling for any distance, mostly moving around among family on adjoining farms, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins. Seems most everyone I knew was somehow related. Different families expressed their religion in different ways. It seems everyone had an opinion about any subject. Some had very narrow-minded strict rules in their family circle.
