Several years back I read a funny article by a writer who said, “Roosevelt proved one could be president for life, Truman proved anyone could be president, Eisenhower proved we don’t even need a president and Kennedy proved it’s dangerous to have one.”
Thinking about that humorous writing, I stopped to wonder what Obama is out to prove. As I see it, being President of the United States is the most powerful job in the world. It’s his job as commander-in-chief to oversee the military, however he has never been in the military and has no military service in his record. He’s CEO over the largest budget in the world but not an economist.
He’s over a large staff of Department heads running this country, but has never been CEO of a company in this free market capitalistic system.
He’s over the State Department overseeing foreign affairs, but had no experience in foreign affairs.
He just returned from Denmark as head honcho to try and persuade the Olympic Committee to designate Chicago as the place for the Olympics, but he’s not an athlete. Despite the fact he throws a few basketballs.
A few weeks ago he gave a televised speech directed to school children, and as far as I know he’s never been a school teacher.
He gave a speech before the United Nations, but has never been a member of that organization.
He has presided over the drive and push for health care, but not a doctor.
Now what else?
Oh yes! He worked as a community organizer in the Chicago area and was the lawyer for Acorn. And who is Acorn? That very large organization, with off-shoot other groups who have been given millions of tax-payer funds. As reported on the news, used to pay for voter fraud. Involved in non-payment of taxes. As shown on tv, promotes prostitution and child sex. And all sorts of immoral, illegal activities.
He’s the top executive in the Executive branch of the U.S. government, but spends most of his time making speeches, as many as five on one Sunday on talk shows; travels to foreign countries, goes on vacation. My question: Who’s sitting in the oval office running the business of this country?
Barack Obama is just one man running everywhere, making speeches. Is he just talking the talk and not walking the walk? I don’t know, but what I do recognize is this country has gone from bad to worse since he’s been in office, about nine months. Despite all the blah blah, “things are improving,” doesn’t appear so to me.
I have lived through several regimes with different presidents, and I certainly don’t blame President Obama for all the mess and crisis this country is in. Others before him have made their contributions to the erosion of Individual Freedom in this country. But I daresay in the past nine months, he has taken this country further into a staggering massive debt, faster than anyone I have seen before him.
I just read a report of a million home foreclosures already just this year. The number of unemployed as reported last week is still rising. The war in Afganistan is going badly as reported on the news. A nuclear threat looms over this country. Foreign terrorists hiding in this country making bombs. Aliens are crossing the borders by the thousands.
All while this president is running around making speeches to school children, United Nations, unions, and foreign countries trying to have the Olympics here, six years away. Who’s watching the store? Who’s sitting in the oval office? Or is it empty?
His lack of experience in all the areas I mentioned, is no excuse for not staying in the oval office and doing the job he was elected to do and being paid to do. That is, protect and operate the business of this country. How could he, he’s everywhere but in the office. Making eloquent speeches, frequently about himself. To paraphrase, “fiddling while Rome burns,” is he just talking while the world turns? More and more towards socialism. I don’t know what he is. As some suggest, a marxist, socialist, progressive, left-winger, centrist. I don’t know but what matters to me is what’s happening in this country that my children and grandchildren will inherit. That matters a great deal to me. The evidence points to a bleak future and the polls reveal this is the concern of the majority of Americans.
As Dr. Phil says, “We can’t change that which we do not acknowledge.” The onus of action is upon us to acknowledge the reality of what’s taking place, and up to every one individually to do something to change things.
It’s the height of folly, ignorance and apathy to sit back and expect any change for the better to come out of Washington. They are all living “high on the hog” and doing their thing, detached from the rest of the population as evidenced by the town hall meetings, when all they did was look down their nose and name call their constituents. Decent, hard-working concerned citizens were treated like trash, by those politicians they elected at the recent town hall meetings.
Keep in mind all politicians are dedicated to two things, getting into office and being re-elected to office. And political government thrives and expands its powers on two things, dependency upon it and opposition to it. And history teaches us it is the nature of government to always be expanding its powers over the people. It never reduces itself. It’s the nature of a snake to crawl and the nature of a bird to fly. It’s the nature of political government to reach for expansion of its powers. And it never operates in defiance of its nature.
Therefore the problem in this country, with regards to “expectations” must switch gears. The euphoria this country displayed by electing Obama, and his mantra of “Change” is now quite evident with respect to what he meant. He has obviously changed things. And the disenchantment, anger, resentment and downright outrage, has now surfaced and outpictured in “tea parties” of opposition, across this country.
I don’t personally dislike President Obama. I think he’s a tall, cool, collective eloquent speaker. But I don’t like what is happening in my country and to my Freedom. And I don’t like his absence of interest in promoting the Principles upon which this country was founded. And whether or not he is a socialist, he promotes a socialist agenda. He’s smart and well-educated.
In conclusion, I must say, one man, Glenn Beck, I call what the heck Glenn Beck, has done more to enlighten the American people with reference to the truth of what’s going on than any other single individual. He takes the heat and keeps on ticking. I admire his fortitude. Others are beginning to join his ranks. But he alone jumped out and stood up against the odds. He has single-handedly gotten the truth out, clowning around with a blackboard on his 5 o’clock Fox cable news program. His ratings are soaring, and deservedly so. You go, Glenn, go!!

I think that for the most part the president is just a figurehead. He may be the “face of the government”, but the real dangers are those behind him (or above him, pulling his strings). A president can be a focus of devotion or of scorn, but I notice that while the speed of our descent into socialism may change a bit depending on who the president may be at the moment, the direction never varies.
