TAXATION IS COMPULSORY (Issue 692)

Listening to all the pundits, politicians and reporting, before, during and since the Iowa caucus, here at the beginning of the 11th year of the twenty-first century, I’m reminded of the perennial presidential Socialist candidate, Norman Thomas, of the twentieth century, who said the American people would never accept Communism, under that name, but would swallow all its tenets under the name Socialism. And so we have.

The six Republican candidates all have a mantra to “defeat Obama.” Then talk about the social programs they plan on implementing, in one form or another. Like Romney, saying he thinks socialized medicine should come under the jurisdiction of States instead of Federal.

THE MERRY-GO-ROUND OF DENIAL – POLITICS & IOWA CAUCUS (Issue 691)

Here it is January 5th, 2012. I’ve only written one article in almost a month, just busy doing other things and watching the same song, second verse in the political arena. The pattern of politics does not change; it’s just different people in different locations, doing the same thing.

Neither does the meaning of Freedom change. A reminder beginning 2012, that Freedom is self-responsibility and self-control. And non-transferrable. And private ownership of property is a total concept.

REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES – TV DEBATES – IOWA CAUCUS & COMING ELECTION (Issue 690)

I just read a comment which said, “Don’t let them downplay the Iowa Caucus – the winner is definitely important.” Obviously an uninformed commenter, inasmuch as the past winners in Iowa rarely reach nomination.

After months and months of extensive news coverage from every angle, the current headlines state most in Iowa have not made up their minds as to who they will cast their votes for in a few days. The slew of Republican candidates have traveled and campaigned for months in every nook and cranny of the state. What is so important about a people who can’t make a decision, after listening for months from the entire slew of candidates covering all issues repeatedly?

FOREIGN HACKERS AND HOME-GROWN WHACKERS (Issue 689)

Yesterday morning I felt compelled to write about my personal story. Prompted by the fact my website, octogenariansblog.com, was attacked by a hacker, which shut it down. I was stunned when I clicked on my site and saw this eerie looking bright red and black screen, with a lot of gibberish in some foreign language, I first thought was Chinese but then thought it looked more Arabic. Not sure what it was, but appeared so sinister and threatening. Did give a name followed by the word hacker.
