Ron Paul Congressman – Are We Fat, Dumb, and Stupid or What? (Issue 174)

A few months ago, I began reading some of the Blog stories written by Ron Paul, A Texas Congressman who has been in Congress a long time. He writes blog post titled, “Texas Straight Talk.”

Aside from being a politician, he’s a physician, bestselling author and two time Presidential Candidate.

He is very much in the forefront of news, appearing on a number of programs, making speeches expressing opinions about what goes on in Washington and the Congress.

He is a smart man, and knows a great deal about government and economics. And he’s very critical about the role Congress plays, the things they do and things they don’t do.

I have a problem with his stance and his ideas. Specifically for this reason – Congressman Paul is part of the problem. He’s one of those members of congress he criticizes   His salary from the stolen loot is $150,000 plus, with additional perks, travel expenses and etc.

Here are some excerpts from things he says:”The Government itself is a fraud bigger than Madoff.”

“Government self can however use our fears against us.”

“Congress abdicated its responsibility over National Currency.”

“We need to know the source and destitution of funds provided the feds emergency.”

‘So much feds do cloaked in secrecy.”

He talks frequently about the Federal Reserve System, speaking about it as though it’s a government unto itself, which the elected officials in Washington have no control over. Talks as though congress knows little about what they do, what they have, how they conduct their business, who they do business with. And conveys the notion they control the money and do as they please.

Congressman Paul may be right in his description of the Federal Reserve System, and probably is. My question is what is he doing about it? He’s one of those in the seat of power he criticizes, but does it in such a manner he’s exempt from any responsibility in the manner. He presents himself as one who is very knowledgeable about what is going on in Congress and the Federal Reserve system, at the same time appearing to have a holier than thou, above the fray attitude.

He’s correct, about the Federal Reserve System, and the absence of responsibility in Congress to do anything about it, but who does he think he’s kidding? He’s one of them. What has he done these years in Congress to salvage the mess of things they have created? Obviously things have gone from bad to worse. Congress makes the laws.  How come they allow such flagrant disregard for the laws as he describes the behavior of the Federal Reserve?

“We need to know–” he says and describes the manner of secrecy the Feds operate under. How is it they do not allow individuals to get away with the things he describes the feds do? Are we fat, dumb and stupid, or what?

Congressman Paul is quite popular among the Conservatives and Libertarian organizations, and talks of his running for president again in 2012. Knowing what the problem is, writing and talking about it does not equate with doing something about it. Plenty of people are writing and talking about the problems we face in this country in the current crisis, but who’s doing anything about it?

Furthermore who’s in a better position as one of the power brokers to do something, than Congressman Paul? But what has he done other than talk about it, write about it and sit up there drawing a big salary paid for out of the till of legal plunder?

We are all familiar with the saying, “Don’t go to the fox to find out what happened to the chickens.” Was Congressman in the hen house when something happened or not?

The ambiguity of what he says and what he does and does not do is flabbergasting. However, beyond that is the number of people who support this position. He talks about what congress refuses to do as though he is a separate entity from the regime he is a member of, and paid well with an above average salary to be there.

When he says, “The government itself runs a bigger fraud than Madoff,” why does Congressman Paul participate in this scheme of things by being a paid member of it, then speak in terms of opposition to it?

I don’t know Ron Paul; I just know what he himself says.  He is the one who articulates what he knows and does, I’m just commenting on it. And anyone can click on to all the articles he has written in his Straight Talk articles.

If I could have one wish, it would be that Congressman Paul and his supporters click on my, octogenariansblog.com site and read the article, titled, “Debates and Dear John Letter.”

I would be remiss in my criticism of others who talk the talk and do not walk the walk, if I didn’t at least offer this one solution, as I describe in the article.

Truth is that which is the absence of a lie is.

As conditions worsen, while those in the elected seats of power on a regular basis now, pass legislation containing billions of dollars so-called, “bailouts” should be labeled sellouts, the latest news is people are beginning to protest in organized and non-organized groups.

Justice William O. Douglas, of the Supreme Court said, ”Since when have we Americans been expected to bow submissively to authority and speak with awe and reverence to those who represent us?”

Let Freedom Ring!!

Congress takes a salary. Tha’ts been there since Day 1. I have no beef with Congress getting paid, I just believe that the raises and any other compensation they get should be put to the voters. Ron Paul consistently returns most of the money he’s given to run his Congressional office back to the Fed.

As for the Fed itself, Ron Paul IS doing something about it other than preaching. He sits on the House Banking and Finance Committee, which “oversees” the Fed. He sees how it’s not “overseen” at all.

In addition, he proposes a bill to End the Fed, the IRS, and several other institutions EVERY YEAR. What is he supposed to do? Strap on a set of bombs and walk into one of them and go suicidal?

It’s been my experience that Dr. Paul walks the walk to match the talk he talks. I don’t agree with him on everything, but I do agree with him on enough to support him.

Someone once told me that if I wanted a candidate to vote for that I agreed with 100%, I’d have to run for office myself because that’s the only way you’ll find a perfect match.

Ms. Cleveland, I have to agree with Aaron Turpen here. If you look at the bills Congressman Paul has introduced or co-authored, and the bills he has voted against, you’ll see that he is fighting the good fight in Washington, but he has only one vote in a house of 435.

More importantly, Congressman Paul uses his position as a pulpit to spread the message of liberty, individual freedom, private property and personal responsibility. He’s trying to deprogram the hordes of Americans who have been brainwashed into thinking that government is good and private property is evil.

    Mr. Canuteson;

Thank you for your comments, regarding Ron Paul. I understand perfectly what you say. I too was at a point in my tkinking at one time, believing the problems we face could be solved if we could only vote into power the right person. However I passed that point of no return a number of years ago.

You might read several other articles I have written about Congressman Paul.

You say: “Congressman Paul uses his position as a pulpit to spread the message of liberty, individual Freedom and personal responsibility.” No he does not, by his own published definition of Freedom, is proof he really does not understand it.
He is hardly in a position to effectively,”de-program brain-washed Americans” inasmuch as he mis-understands the true meaning of Freedom.]
