I’m one of those persons who collect things. I save magazines, books, documents, newspaper clippings, letters and all sorts of things going back almost 100 years ago.
Because my parents were very young when I was born, my grandparents were rather young and I had a total of fourteen aunts and uncles, growing up. Some were even younger than I was. Plus the fact I had great-grandparents still living in my early life. Therefore, many of my experiences growing up on a farm in Northeast Georgia were positive ones. And I still have boxes of mementoes from that era.

My daughter enrolled in a weekly seminar to learn more about money. It is several weeks in length and she’s about half way through.
Today she stopped by saying the lesson last night was a warning not to buy gold and silver. The instructor gave several examples of crisis to support his advice. One was 9/11, saying the victims needed food, medical help, and lots of other things, then saying not one requested gold or silver.

From time to time in my previous articles, I’ve written a bit about my experience with economics. To many of us the very word, “economics” sounds complex and intimidating. There is a language in the money world that many of us do not understand.
We read articles in magazines, books, blogs and listen to money reports via the six o’clock news. There is bull market, bear market, up-turns, down-turns. There are Keynism and Austrian schools of thought on economics. There is the Federal Reserve, central banks and community banks. There is the Euro versus the Dollar… gold, silver, paper money. And on and on about money and economics.
