Gulliver’s Travels has Nothing on Me (Issue 128)

When one has lived as long as I have, you experience many twists and turns, ups and downs, ins and outs, fun times and sad times. And the beat goes on.

Because of my blogging and the 100 plus articles posted, I’ve been receiving some publicity lately. Until recently, I’ve led a rather quiet, low-key life for the past few years. A long-time friend from Woodstock, Georgia, named Emily, called twice this week to remind me of some past publicized events and times.

Her first call was about the much publicized Federal Court Case in the 70s, when I refused the forced school policy relative to immunizations. Because of that, I was on the six and 10 o’clock TV news, front page of the newspaper and all over talk radio. The reporters said I was newsworthy because I was one lone woman, living in the country, fighting the bureaucracy and winning. And I did win the case.

My Patriotic Duty and the Path it Led Me (Issue 127)

It seems as far back as I can remember I have always loved Freedom and wanted sovereignty of myself, but for many years, I had a different concept of it than I do now.

I married a military officer who was a command pilot towards the end of World War II. When he was released from the military, he remained a reserve officer. Consequently, he was recalled for the Korean conflict. We were living in Clewiston, Florida when he was assigned to an airbase in Biloxi, Mississippi. I waited about six months before moving there to join him. We lived in a small apartment in the rear of a grocery store.

His military salary was quite small, so I decided to get a job in a local photography studio to supplement his income. I loved that job. I started out as a proofreader, then the owner taught me how to use the camera and strobe lighting and for a time, I did the photography.

Redistributing Wealth via Nationalizing Companies—A Seamless Transition (Issue 126)

The National Presidential election is barely over and we keep hearing more and more about what the government is doing to nationalize companies, corporations and industries.

This means companies like the banking industry, insurance companies like AIG, and many others, have already had ownership transferred over to the centralized government. Other companies are not sitting idly by in the wings, yet actively attempting to sway the government to take over with bailouts, like the auto industry.

Then we hear talk of credit companies trying to come under the yolk of nationalization. Some already are nationalized. Then there’s a waiting list of large companies and corporations trying at some level to get on the bandwagon of government bailouts, which means they will no longer control their means of production, but instead will be under the jurisdiction of the new boss, i.e. the federal government.

Have you thought about this . . . your Freedom and Property? (Issue 125)

I woke up this morning thinking about the past eight months when I wrote my first article for this blog site, and all that has happened to me since I began. I also thought about all that has happened in this country in this past eight-month period and decided to review some things.

First, despite the fact my blog name, octogenariansblog.com, connotes that it’s geared toward the 80-plus reader, my writings are not solely directed to that group. Actually, I’m a Libertarian, and the core centerpiece of my writings has a common theme of ideas associated with individual freedom and personal property rights for all ages, including octogenarians.

I believe every individual is born to be free and that it is an inalienable right bestowed upon us by our creator. In order to live, thrive and expand in our lives, we absolutely must own property and would perish without that essential. Freedom and ownership of property are inseparable and both are a total concept.
