Wake Up, Stand Up, Speak Up, Look Up (Issue 67)

As conditions in my country worsen on a daily basis, I remind myself this is My Country, My Life, and My Freedom that is at stake. Then I ask myself, what can I do about it?

I click on the television news and it’s mostly about what the Presidential Candidates are saying. What are they saying? They are simply mud slinging at each other, then rebutting what they are saying. It goes on and on ad nauseum. Every once in awhile they throw in something about who’s going to raise taxes, who’s going to lower taxes, who wants to end the war, who wants to continue the war, who wants to drill for oil, who opposes drilling, who’s getting the most news coverage and who is whimpering about not getting the same amount of coverage, who’s traveling out of the country, who’s traveling within the country, how much money one raised compared to the amount the other raised for his campaign, who’s wearing a lapel pin, and what the other did as a prisoner of war, then there’s hours and hours of air time devoted to who’s going to be their running mates…

Then I turn on my computer and read the newsletters and web sites devoted to the many problems we face. I read about numerous organized groups, banding together to write letters and make phone calls to elected officials trying to get them to do something. Millions of signatures are collected pushing one agenda, then another, wanting elected officials to do something or not to do something about a particular agenda.

Then there are all the radio programs and C-Span with call-in programs where thousands upon thousands can voice their objections to what is happening in this country. No doubt, it is a catharsis to hoot and holler, yell and scream about what is happening in this once great nation with things deteriorating at an accelerated rate.

Violations Of Universal Law (Issue 57)

This morning when I flipped the switch on my bedside lamp and it didn’t come on, I started thinking about the things we take for granted. I never spend any time thinking about the eventuality of the light bulb burning out, I simply take for granted the light will always come on when I flip the switch.

From the light bulb, I began thinking about the current cost of gas and food and their daily rising prices. I then thought about times in the past when I could drive up to a filling station for gas and some attendant would be there to fill my tank while I sat in the car. I had no concerns about the cost per gallon. I didn’t have to get out and struggle with removing a gas cap and inserting the nozzle, worry about a fire if any gas spilled out, or have to struggle with some machine to insert a card. I just took it for granted that an attendant would serve my needs at the gas pump and all I had to do was sit there, hand him the money after he cleaned my windshield, and say thank you.

Lavish Giving From Stolen Loot (Issue 56)

Here we are already into June of 2008. The temperature here in northeast Georgia is climbing into the 90’s. As the weather heats up, so does the presidential election.

The completion of all the primaries and caucuses is upon us and the dozens of candidates which began in the process have finally been whittled down to two senators. First there is John McCain, a Republican and someone I’ve heard referred to as a moderate, middle of the roader, left of center, Conservative, and so on. The second is Barack Obama, a Democrat, generally labeled a far left Liberal.

To Be Or Not To Be Shot Up, That Is The Question (Issue 55)

“A rose by any other name is still a rose” and a vaccination shot by any other name is still a toxic substance placed in one’s body…especially those of small children and babies.

It seems that on a regular basis, news articles appear about the horrible effects of vaccinations in case after case. Just in the past year, news leaked about concerns of Merck & Co.’s (a pharmaceutical company) contamination of vaccines. These are children’s vaccines!

Then we read so many reports about the adverse effects of immunizations on children’s lives, being the cause of many diseases.

We hear about the spin of the FDA and CDC, those government regulators supposedly the “watch-dogs” ensuring the safety of food and drugs. Yet somehow, they are not doing their job, as drug companies maintain their drugs are “safe” and “problems are being addressed.”
