TAX-SUPPORTED SCHOOLS – OBAMA’S SPEECH – HISTORY OF SOME OF MY SCHOOL BATTLES – HOME SCHOOLING (Issue 255)

Fourth in my series of articles about schools.

First, I wish to say how impressed I am with the thousands of parents across this country who have opted to remove their children and home-school them. It’s an admirable decision to take on a tough job. Some of these parents have several children they keep home and teach. Because they are the children not indoctrinated in the philosophy of socialism, like those enrolled in the public schools, the future of Freedom in this country lies in their hands.

By noon today, the flurry of activity in opposition to the national speech planned by Obama, has made some changes in his rhetoric, as reported on the news. From the outset, it was not so much about what he planned to say, but the game plan to use teachers and students to glorify him, by initiating a writing campaign using students. History has shown that leaders like Mao Tse Tung and Hitler used the students to help glorify their leadership and them as their leaders.

According to reports, it’s unprecedented for a president of the United States to make a nationally televised speech just to school children. On the other hand it’s unprecedented for anyone to so actively move this country so rapidly down the route of socialism in such a short time.

In my last article I told the story about my fight with the school system over vaccinations, and my eventual filing of a lawsuit in federal court and winning.

I have many stories I could tell and this one is about a battle I encountered living in Tennessee. It seemed every few days something ocurred in school that prompted me to visit the school or send a notice about my objections of first one thing or another.

A few days before things heated up, I had sent a note complaining and objecting to the principal, ordering my young son to run ninety laps around the football field in ninety degree weather. I thought this was a life-threatening exercise. Because it was in a long list of abusive treatment, I decided the very next thing that happened I would remove my children from the school.

A few days later, my daughter came home with a note for me to pay one dollar for her reporrt card. I viewed this as the coup d’eta. I contacted a number of other parents who were having trouble with the school. Sat down and wrote several letters to local churches and news organizations, the school board, and Nashville newspapers about the goings on in this school. The Nashville Tennessean did a front page story about the one dollar report card fiasco. A few days later, my son did not come home from school, when I called the school I learned he was held in detention for disturbing class by playing with a string.

As I started out the door to go take him out of the detention, the phone rang and it was a Nashville TV news station asking about the report card incident. I told them I was on the way out of the door to retrieve my son from the latest punishment. They said if you will wait twenty minutes we will be there with cameras. I waited and when I arrived so did the cameras following me as I marched in and confronted the principal and yanked my child out of the lunch room where he sat alone. That evening on six o’clock news, myself, the principal, with his mouth hanging open and the school were featured on 6 and 10 o’clock news.

I refused to return my children to the school and there was quite a flurry of news following my actions. Newspaper articles covered it as the “Dollar Report Card Case.” I received a notice I was in violation of the state compulsory law by refusing to return my children to the school. I ignored and kept them home. Dozens of parents in the area began calling and coming to see me telling stories of horror they had experienced. I decided to hold a meeting in my home and invited the other parents. A large number showed up and I asked each one to write down their story, sign and have notarized, and they did. A stack of statements I still have.

A strange thing happened: One who attended the meeting was a local minister, who came in a car he had borrowed from a local repair shop, after leaving his vehicle for repair. The next day, upon return the owner of the shop wanted to know where he was the night before. He told them at my house on Bel-Air on a cul de sac and asked why. He was informed the police came and inquired as to who was driving the car. Then I knew my house was under surveillance and names and owners of vehicles were being taken. I learned later this was an action initiated by the commander of the military base. Most of the students in the school were kids of military personnel.

In the subsequent statements I received from parents were some shocking stories. Some told of the male principal regularly walking into the girls restroom unannounced, sometimes seeing them with their pants down. Several told stories of the principal taking boys out of school regularly and taking them to his house to shovel coal, including my son, I learned. Many stories of inappropriate conduct by the principal. The parents were scared for fear anything they did or said to complain, the principal would retaliate on their children, because they had experienced retaliatory incidents.

Because this was a local school with mostly military students, and upon learning the military base had my house under surveillance, I did several things after realizing all the publicity I had caused had placed me and others in jeopardy. I placed a man beside my house in a tent with a gun, and had a trained german shepherd dog at my front door. My husband was called on the carpet by the military because of the ruckus I had set in motion.

Then I received a call from a sargeant major in the base commander’s office asking me to come to the air base and meet with the base commander. I said oh no, I’m not in the military, but the commander can make an appointment to meet with me in my home, he knows where I live. He never did.

As a result of all going on, I wrote a letter to Senator Richard Russell, at that time head of the armed services committe and asked him to investigate the matter. And he did investigate, I still have his correspondence.

The next thing that happened was a call from the local school board telling me I would be arrested if I did not send my children back to school. I said, you know where I live, go ahead and arrest me. But before you do let me tell you what will happen. I have a report detailing all that has gone in that school, along with dozens of notarized statements from disturbed parents, detailing many terrible acts perpetrated on their children by the principal and the teachers acting on his instructions – damaging, illegal acts. Because this is pretty much a military school funded by federal tax dollars, this extensive file with proof, is in a safety deposit safe outside the state with instructions to be sent to J. Edgar Hoover, head of the FBI in Washington, if anything happens to me or my children. And you can expect some indictments as a result. I had done exactly as I described.

No one ever bothered me nor my children; I was never arrested, I never returned my children to the school – instead they were enrolled in a home study course and home schooled. This was in the sixties when it was unheard of to home-school. A coupla years later we moved to another base.

Today the situation in the schools has worsened. Children beat each other up, attack the teacher, take drugs, carry guns to school, and regularly in the news is some horror story of happenings in the schools. And parents are powerless to do anything about it.

I write some of my stories with details now, because of all the news and reports of happenings in the schools, particularly in view of some recognition they are socialist schools, ramming socialist thinking down the throats of young children. And to point out the fact there is nothing anyone can do to improve the schools because the cause is they are socialist by the nature of what they are.

That old saying, “You can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear” is applicable to the current schools as they are. You cannot change the system. You can only change the conditions under which your children are schooled. A return to education instead of indoctrination. That is taking the schooling out of the hands of political government. Or removing your child from the school, as many have already done. Either send to private schools or home-school.

One of the reasons I’m writing this series of articles is to point out that current happenings are nothing new and did not start with the current political regime. It’s been going on a long time, getting progressively worse with each school term. However, since the current regime of those in power leans so heavily towards socialism in everything they do, it’s not surprising that the game plan is to use school children to further their agenda. As evidenced by the exposure in some of the news media the last few days.

I’ve wondered what it would take to shake the apathy of the American people relative to the socialist school situation. Never dreamed a proposed speech by the president would stir their intellectual mettle. And so interesting hearing all the leftist socialist sympathizers yelling like a scalded dog, name calling and making fun of those opposing the onslaught of socialism.

The opposition to the proposed health care legislation has spilled over into opposition and disenchantment with the schooling problem, and it should. Millions of young minds are already under the control of socialism being taught.

I pinch myself and ask, is mainstream America really waking up to what’s going on? Too early to tell if there’s enough to make a difference and make the necessary changes. But the start is encouraging.

Your insight is amazing. Love reading your blog! Keep them coming!

Hitler said “When an opponent declares, “I will not come over to your side,” I calmly say, “Your child belongs to us already… What are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short time they will know nothing else but this new community.”

America has GOT to WAKE UP!!!

    Dear Annette,

My eternal gratitude for the comment you sent. The quote about Hitler was so profound and so applicable to current conditions, I decided to devote an entire article on it. Titled, “Hitler said it, Hitler did it, Now Washington!s doing it”.
I appreciate your reading my articles, your kind words and outstanding quote. I!m past 85 years old, but still feel quite passionate about the school problem. With great concerns for the country my grand-children and others will live in. Beyond that all of us are adversly affected with that which comes out of Washington.
It cannot be fixed by electing a different batch of politicians, nor by organized groups but by the rebelling of individuals deciding to take this country back. It seems that may be beginning to happen, as ordinary mainstream America is feeling the squeeze play and speaking out.
I do hope you e-mail me or comment again
